marvel-capcom-infinite-1Capcom recently took the wraps off Marvel VS Capcom: Infinite a few days ago. This represents the latest installment to the franchise in which the previous major game, Marvel VS Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds, was launched back in 2011, making it 5 years since its previous release. Clearly gamers have been waiting for a while.

The good news for gamers is that if you’ve enjoyed Capcom’s older franchises and would love to see new titles being released for them, you’re in luck as this is pretty much Capcom’s strategy for 2017. According to Capcom, “In addition to regular major title releases each fiscal year, Capcom is currently focused on reviving series that have not had new entries recently, or otherwise dormant IP”.

Basically instead of creating a brand new franchise from scratch, Capcom will look at bringing back franchises that they haven’t looked at in a while. Capcom states that this initiative has actually begun with the upcoming Marvel VS Capcom: Infinite. The company did not mention any specifics with regards to other franchises being revived, and with there being so many titles under their belt, we guess it’s really anyone’s guess as to which franchise they might bring back to life.

We suppose in a way Resident Evil 7 could be see as a revival since Resident Evil 6 was released in 2012. In any case this is something that gamers can definitely look forward to in 2017. In the meantime both Marvel VS Capcom: Infinite and Resident Evil 7 are set  for a release in 2017.
