comcast-enhanced-moviesBack in the day when VHS tapes were all the rage, you’d buy/rent a movie, take it home and watch it and that’d be the end of it. All you got was the movie. However over time studios began to realize that customers wanted more than just a movie, which is why these days getting behind-the-scenes footage like photos and videos, as well as director and/or cast commentary is a pretty common feature.

This is exactly the sort of thing that Comcast wants to bring to viewers at home with “Enhanced Movie Extras” that will be launched on the Xfinity X1. Teaming up with major Hollywood studios such as Universal, Lionsgate, Paramount Pictures, and Sony Pictures, Enhanced Movie Extras basically offers users additional information about the movie, like the features we mentioned above.

It will also offer up some interactive experiences such as games and “contextually-integrated internet content”. For those who are interested, Comcast will be offering a 10-day free trial that will run from the 16th of December until the 25th of December for digitally purchased films such as Secret Life of Pets, Jason Bourne, Mockingjay Part 2, Star Trek Beyond, Hotel Transylvania 2, Underworld, Nerve and Warcraft.

For those who are hoping to see more titles, Comcast is expected to expand it to more titles and work with more studios throughout 2017.
