Double Dragon is one of those classic franchises that many gamers back in the day are probably familiar with. However with new fighting games entering the market, we guess at some point in time development on new Double Dragon titles ceased. However it looks like the franchise is about to get a revival.

Following the purchase to the rights to the franchise last year, Arc System Works has announced that come 30th of January, 2017, Double Dragon IV will be released on the PS4 and Steam. Yup, you read that right, come 2017 we will be able to get our hands on a brand new Double Dragon title.

However instead of reintroducing the game with brand new graphics like what Capcom has been doing for its Street Fighter series, it seems that Arc System Works has decided to maintain the same 80s visual style. Is that a good or bad thing? We guess it depends on how you look at it.

It will certainly be nostalgic but we guess that the newer breed of gamers might have issue with its graphics and music. In any case the game will see the return of the original staff which includes producer Takaomi Kaneko, director Yoshihisa Kishimoto, character designer Koji Ogata, composer Kazunaka Yamane, and programmer Kei Oyama. In any case you can check out the teaser trailer above, but in the meantime who else is excited for the game?
