It has already been a couple of months since Google released Android 7.0 Nougat but the update hasn’t really made it to most flagship smartphones yet, let alone to compatible mid-rangers. OEMs normally require several weeks to get the update ready for their devices after which they usually get held up for a couple of weeks at mobile carriers. That’s really the main reason why there’s so much fragmentation on Android but it’s a necessary evil, so to speak. Fortunately for people with Huawei phones, the company has now confirmed its Android 7.0 Nougat roadmap.

The Huawei Android 7.0 Nougat roadmap reveals that several smartphones will receive the update in the first quarter of next year. These devices include the Huawei Mate 8, P9, P9 Plus, P9 Lite, the Huawei Nova and the Nova Plus.

These handsets will also receive EMUI 5.0 which is the latest iteration of Huawei’s custom skin that it slaps on top of Android. The skin adds a plethora of software features to the Android-powered handsets.

Huawei already has a device on the market that ships with Android 7.0 Nougat straight out of the box. If you’re not so inclined to wait for the update, just go ahead and buy the Huawei Mate 9. The company is yet to provide confirmed release dates for the other handsets.
