To provide an even more personal TV experience to its more than 12 million subscribers, Hulu today announced that subscribers can now create multiple profiles on a single account. Up to six specific profiles can be created on each account. This functionality is limited to Hulu.com at this point in time but the online streaming service has confirmed that multiple profiles will be rolled out to its apps in a few weeks.

Hulu is focusing on personalization with multiple profiles. Everything from the masthead to the homepage, Watchlist, and recommendations will be personalized for a particular profile. Every individual profile is going to have its own name, viewing history, and personal information as well.

When a new profile is created, the user will go through a “taste picking experience” where they can select the types of movies and shows they’re interested in and those that they wouldn’t like to see. This will help Hulu serve personalized recommendations for each individual profile.

A new Kids profile type has been added as well to ensure that children can view content in the Kids Hub freely. Parents can rest assured that their kids will not run into mature content on the service. All of the profiles can be managed from the Hulu app or online at Hulu.com/Account/Profiles.

Hulu says that profiles will be rolling out to other platforms in the next couple of weeks. Subscribers who watch Hulu on the web can create profiles starting today.
