LG is due to unveil a new flagship from its G lineup next year and if a new report out of South Korea is to be believed, the company is going to release the LG G6 ahead of schedule. According to the report, the LG G6 2017 release might take place in March next year. The company is expected to formally announce the handset in February, possibly at the Mobile World Congress 2017 event in Barcelona.

It merits mentioning here that recent reports have suggested that Samsung might not even unveil the Galaxy S8 at Mobile World Congress 2017. Samsung is actually expected to unveil the Galaxy S8 at a separate event in New York City come April 2017 which would mean that the handset may not even be released before May.

LG might be looking to take advantage of this opportunity so it could capitalize on the late arrival of one of its biggest rivals on the market. The report mentions that LG is looking to seize the opportunity in order to increase sales volume of its next flagship smartphone.

As many of you are aware by now, Samsung suffered a failure with the Galaxy Note 7 and it has to be extra sure that the same problem doesn’t surface with the Galaxy S8. The company is believed to be taking extra time to ensure that the Galaxy S8 doesn’t develop the same fault, perhaps that’s why it will miss the traditional MWC unveil of a new Galaxy S handset.

Since LG hasn’t confirmed anything officially at this point in time, it would be best to take this report with a grain of salt until we hear more from the company.a
