Would you like to take a trip down memory lane? You can if you own a Nintendo Wii U. The company has released Mario Kart 64 on the North American Wii U eShop through the Nintendo 64 Virtual Console. The classic game is now available for download from the Wii U eShop. Mario Kart 64 has already been released through this channel in Europe quite a long time ago, it was rolled out in that part of the world earlier this year in January.

Nintendo’s Virtual Console service enables Wii U owners to play classic games that were originally released for the NES, Super NES, and Game Boy Advance. These re-releases often have several new features like off-TV play and more.

Nintendo has taken its sweet time to bring Mario Kart 64 to the North American Wii U eShop, but fans of the game will be delighted that it’s finally here. The re-release of Mario Kart 64 first took place in Japan about a year back then it was released for Wii U owners in Europe in January this year.

This particular version of the game doesn’t have support for Ghost data and the N64 Controller Paks don’t work as well, however, all of the other features of Mario Kart 64 will be available to players. The game is now available for download, it costs $9.99.
