Giphy is one of the many databases in which users can access animated GIFs to be used in their conversations, like on Apple’s iMessages, or on the internet. Now it seems that NASA has decided to open up their database of GIFs to Giphy to allow users to access various space and NASA-related GIFs.

According to NASA’s announcement, “NASA also is now on GIPHY, a database and search engine of animated images in GIF format. Users can download and share the agency’s creations on their own social media accounts, and can be used to create or share animated GIFs to communicate a reaction, offer a visual explanation, or even create digital works of art.”

In addition to Giphy, NASA also announced that they will be sharing its images and videos on Pinterest as well. “This social media platform allows users to browse and discover images from across NASA’s many missions in aeronautics, astrophysics, Earth science, human spaceflight, and more, and pin them to their own pinboards.”

“NASA engages and inspires the public by sharing unique content through social media. Don’t forget to check out NASA’s accounts regularly, as there are more Pins and GIFs to come. The agency continues to add new platforms, like Pinterest and GIPHY, to offer the public a comprehensive view of NASA’s missions, facilities and people.” These changes should already be live so if you want to check them out, head on over to Giphy’s website or Pinterest for the details.
