canon powershot g9 x_1Canon’s PowerShot series of cameras have typically been pretty well-received by both amateurs and professionals looking for a secondary compact camera. Last year we were treated to the PowerShot G9 X and according to the latest rumors, its successor is apparently due for an announcement next month.

This is according to a post by Nokishita Camera in which based on the Google Translation, has indicated that the PowerShot G9 X Mark II will be announced within a month’s time. The post says that the camera could be announced before Photokina 2017 which takes place in the later part of January, 2017.

What this means is that there is a possibility that the camera could be unveiled at CES 2017. We typically see a lot of camera announcements at CES, so it wouldn’t be surprising if Canon were to make an announcement then. However in terms of specs we’re not sure what we are able to expect for now, except that it will apparently be offered up in black or silver.

Take it with a grain of salt, but if you’re looking for a decent compact camera for your travels with features that allow for more manual controls, then check back with us next year where hopefully we’ll have more information to share with you guys.
