Some pretty big Twitter accounts have been compromised recently and Sony Music appears to have joined that list as well. Earlier today, several accounts related to Sony Music were compromised as they sent out tweets about pop star Britney Spears dying in an accident. It was obviously false news since Britney Spears is alive and well, a representative for the singer later confirmed the same to CNN.

Reports suggest that the Sony Music accounts were compromised by the hacker group OurMine. The tweet regarding Spears’ death was sent out from the Sony Music Global and Bob Dylan handles after 8AM ET. “Britney spears is dead by accident! we will tell you more soon,” the tweets, which have since been deleted, read.

The group OurMine has previously compromised some high profile accounts, including but not limited to Google CEO Sundar Pichai’s Quora account, Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey’s Twitter account, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s social media accounts, and more.

The group hacked Netflix’s official Twitter account most recently. It normally sends out tweets saying that it was only to check the account’s safety and that the person or company should get in touch with OurMine about fixing their online security.

From the looks of it, control of the Sony Music Twitter accounts has now been handed back to the company. Britney Spears fans can breathe a sign of relief, 2016 has been particularly hard on artists anyway.
