star wars rey finnLast we checked, Star Wars: Episode VIII has been set for a release in December, 2017. Unfortunately this means that there is still a year of waiting for fans of the franchise. The good news is that we might have some tidbits to share, such as a potential title for the upcoming movie that was revealed in a recent trademark filing.

According to a report from Attack of the Fanboy, the title, “Star Wars: Forces of Destiny” was trademarked over in Europe. The filing reportedly took place on the 8th of December by LucasFilm, which means that it was only last week. Given that the movie has presumably finished filming by now, we suppose details like the official title would already have been settled, right?

That being said, it should be noted that titles for movies are a constant work in progress. After all you want something that’s relevant, and at the same time memorable. Attack of the Fanboy points out that prior to The Force Awakens, there were quite a few rumors regarding alternate/possible titles for the movie, so for all we know, “Forces of Destiny” could simply be one of them.

Either way should find out soon, hopefully. In the meantime Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is set for a release later this month and should tide over some fans out there until Episode VIII’s release next year.
