super-mario-movieWhile we suppose video game movie adaptations have progressed significantly over the years, there’s still something about them that makes them hard to like. A good example would be the recently released Assassin’s Creed movie which not only received mostly negative reviews, but it also did not make as much money as expected (at least so far).

However if you really wanted to see the epitome of bad video game movies, the Super Mario Bros movie released back in 1993 is probably a good example. In case you haven’t seen it, you’re in luck because it looks like the movie will be getting a Blu-ray re-release and will also be released in a steelbook case.

The Blu-ray release of the movie will contain additional footage, such as archived interviews with some of the cast members, along with storyboards, and also some behind-the-scenes features. At the moment it is available for pre-order via UK retailer Zavvi where it is priced at £15.99 and is expected to be released on the 13th of February, 2017.

We expect that other retailers should start stocking up on it in the near future as well. Despite the negative reviews of the movie, we guess for fans of Nintendo’s Mario franchise or just movie collectors in general, this Blu-ray re-release could be a great collector’s item one day.
