super mario runWhen Nintendo released Super Mario Run a couple of weeks ago, it didn’t take long for the app to become the top “Top Grossing” app on the iTunes App Store. Unfortunately it seems that the game has not managed to maintain its position at the top because according to a report from Bloomberg, the game is no longer the highest grossing game.

This information is based on data from App Annie in which it seems that the game’s revenue has been on the decline since its climb to the top of the charts. It is unclear as to why that is happening, but there is a very good chance that the $10 price tag might have been to blame for it as many gamers are unhappy with how much it costs.

There is also the fact that the game requires users to have an always-on connection which not only seems to be quite a data hog, but inconvenient in places where an internet connection isn’t readily available or stable. Reviews of the game have also appeared to be a bit mixed, although most of the complaints seem to be targeted at those two problems we have highlighted.

Nintendo’s shares have also taken a hit following the game’s release, indicating that investors aren’t too confident about the game’s ability to add value to the company. In any case given that the game is less than a month old, there’s still plenty of time for Nintendo to address the issues with the game, but whether or not they do is an entirely different story.
