tesla_model_x_1Back in September, Tesla unveiled an enhanced version of its autopilot feature that is meant to introduce more safety features to the car. We later learnt in November that the updated feature is expected for a December release, and now it seems that the wait is almost over as the update should be coming very, very soon.

This is according to a recent tweet by Tesla’s CEO Elon Musk (via Engadget) in which he confirmed that the enhanced autopilot feature would be released by the end of next week. In a series of tweets Musk writes, “Tesla Autopilot vision neural net now working well. Just need to get a lot of road time to validate in a wide range of environments. Looks like we might be ready to rollout most of Autopilot functionality for HW2 towards the end of next week.”

No specific day in the week was mentioned, but the end of next week isn’t that long of a wait so we guess we’ll just have to wait and see. For those who forgot about what the Enhanced Autopilot feature will contain, we can look forward to an upgraded autosteer, smart summon, auto lane change, autopark, lane departure warnings, collision warnings, and more.

However it should be noted that while the update will begin rolling out next week, it could be a while before you see it as Tesla plans on doing incremental monthly releases throughout 2017.
