HTC hasn’t really had a good year even though it launched a couple of really great smartphones, including but not limited to the flagship HTC 10. The company has been trying to sell more units of its flagship by offering various discounts and promotions. While there’s speculation about the launch of the company’s next flagship handset, a new report out of Taiwan claims that HTC is going to launch three new smartphones in the first quarter of next year.

HTC recently announced that it’s going to conduct an event on January 12th. The company didn’t say what it’s going to unveil at this event, only teasing that it’s going to be all about “U,” it’s most likely going to unveil a new handset and perhaps a mobile VR headset, though that’s just speculation.

As far as the next HTC flagship is concerned, some analysts are of the view that the company might not launch its next flagship smartphone in the United States because it simply does not spare the resources required to launch a flagship device across carriers in the United States.

The report from Taiwan mentions that HTC is going to release a new flagship smartphone as well as two mid-range handsets in the first quarter of 2017. It’s unclear right now whether the company will unveil all three devices at its January 12th event or make us wait until MWC 2017 in February for one of those announcements.
