iMacRetina-Hero-PR-PRINTThe iMac and Mac Pro have not been updated in a little over a year and about 3 years respectively. This has led some to speculate that maybe Apple doesn’t care about its desktop users anymore, especially with Apple launching brand new MacBook Pro laptops and seemingly neglecting the desktop the in process.

However the good news is that Apple isn’t forgetting about its desktops. In a message posted to Apple’s employee message board that was obtained by TechCrunch, Apple’s CE Tim Cook wrote, “Some folks in the media have raised the question about whether we’re committed to desktops. If there’s any doubt about that with our teams, let me be very clear: we have great desktops in our roadmap. Nobody should worry about that.”

However beyond that, Cook did not mention anything about what we might be able to expect. Like we said, both desktop offerings from Apple have yet to be updated in awhile so it is understandable that users are getting worried. After all we typically see hardware refreshes on an annual basis, so for Apple to not update either computer in over a year is worrisome.

In any case if Apple is expected to hold an event in the earlier part of 2017 as they have done in previous years, there is a chance we could be seeing those refreshes announced then, so until then maybe you should hold off on purchasing a new iMac or Mac Pro for now.
