The new year is just around the corner and it’s only a matter of time before some of our favorite companies come out with new smartphones. That’s why we’re hearing so many rumors these days about devices like the Galaxy S8 and the LG G6. According to a new report out of South Korea, the LG G6 is not only going to be waterproof but it’s also going to feature wireless charging. Both of these features have been present on the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge for almost a year now.

LG is expected to make a major change to the LG G6. The upcoming flagship is expected to drop the modular functionality that the company introduced with the LG G5. The idea hasn’t really taken off and it’s believed that LG will decide against sticking with it for the next flagship.

LG has retained the removable battery on its flagship smartphones even though Samsung dumped them with the Galaxy S6 a couple of years ago. The company is now expected to jump on the bandwagon with the G6 as the new handset will need to be completely sealed to ensure that it’s waterproof. It will then also support wireless charging.

Samsung took a lot of flak for doing away with the removable battery but the company has been able to withstand all of that criticism and fans are now used to the new reality. Perhaps LG will go through something similar before its fans make their peace with the fact that LG flagships may never have removable batteries again.
