sony-xperia-2017If there is one thing Sony is extremely consistent on regarding their smartphone design is that they don’t deviate too far from the original. Granted there have been changes made over the years, but these changes feel more subtle than obvious, and for the most part you can tell it is a Sony phone.

Sony appears to be maintaining that trend, if a recently leaked render is anything to go by. This render is allegedly that of the successor to the Sony Xperia XA and was leaked courtesy of @OnLeakjs and @Slashleaks. It’s a bit hard to tell from the angle, but it doesn’t seem to look too different from the Xperia XA which was announced earlier this May.

Unfortunately in terms of specs, not much is known although it has been suggested that its display size is of the 5-inch variety. This shouldn’t be surprising as the Xperia XA also packs a 5-inch display. Other than that we’re not sure what else to expect. Recently a couple of Sony handset model numbers were leaked and were revealed to sport Snapdragon 820 chipsets, but the displays on those were of the 5.2-inch and 5.5-inch variety, so safe to say we’re probably looking at different handsets.

That being said, the Xperia XA is more of a upper mid-range handset so we guess its successor will probably maintain those standards. Take it with a grain of salt, but with CES and MWC coming up, we should know more details soon.
