good-omensBoth Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett are/were very accomplished authors and famous in their own right. They also both collaborated on a book titled “Good Omens” way back in 1990. The good news is that if you’ve been dying to see the book come to life on the big screen, you’re in luck.

Amazon Studios has announced that they will be adapting “Good Omens” into a mini TV series with six episodes, with each episode running for an hour. It should be noted that in the past, there have been many attempts to turn Good Omens into a movie/TV show, but for some reason it never happened, at least until now.

The description reads, “Good Omens takes place in 2018 when the Apocalypse is near and Final Judgment is set to descend upon humanity. According to The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter Witch (the world’s only completely accurate book of prophecies), the world will end on a Saturday. Next Saturday, in fact. Just before dinner.”

Gaiman had previously stated that he did not have plans on making a video adaptation of the book because he and Pratchett had an agreement in which they would work on it together, but following the passing of Pratchett in 2015, he received a letter from Pratchett posthumously in which he basically gave Gaiman his blessing to go ahead with it. The show is expected to debut on Amazon Prime Video first before making its way  onto the BBC. It is set for a release in 2018.

According to Gaiman, “Almost thirty years ago, Terry Pratchett and I wrote the funniest novel we could about the end of the world, populated with angels and demons, not to mention an eleven-year-old Antichrist, witchfinders and the four horsepeople of the Apocalypse. It became many people’s favourite book. Three decades later, it’s going to make it to the screen. I can’t think of anyone we’d rather make it with than BBC Studios, and I just wish Sir Terry were alive to see it.”
