animal crossingLast year it was confirmed that following the release of Miitomo, Animal Crossing and Fire Emblem would be Nintendo’s next mobile titles. However the surprise announcement of Super Mario Run at Apple’s iPhone event saw both games pushed to a 2017 release which we guess is a bit of a bummer.

Fire Emblem has since been confirmed for the 2nd of February which is this Thursday, so the question is what about Animal Crossing? The bad news for Animal Crossing fans is that if you wanted to get your hands on the game, you will have to wait until 2018 because during Nintendo’s latest financials, it was revealed that the release of Animal Crossing for mobile would be delayed.

Nintendo’s statement reads, “For smart devices, we plan to release the game application Fire Emblem Heroes on February 2. We will also follow last December’s release of Super Mario Run for iOS with an Android version in March. To accommodate the releases and operation of these applications, we have revised the release schedule for Animal Crossing, which we had originally planned to release during this period. This title will be released during the next fiscal year.”

We’re not sure why there needs to be such a big gap between the Android version of Super Mario Run and Animal Crossing, but we suppose that’s Nintendo’s prerogative.
