lg-ultrafine-displaysThere has been a bit of controversy surrounding the LG 5K UltraFine displays in which Apple was recently accused of removing negative reviews from its product page. However it seems that the information on the post made on Reddit has possibly been debunked by MacRumors who claims that reviews were never made available for the display to begin with.

They claim that looking at archived web information showed that it was only recently that reviews and ratings for the device were made available. We have checked this ourselves and according to the web archives, multiple snapshots saved over the month of December showed that there was no ratings and review section available for the product.

It is unclear as to why reviews were never made available until recently, but perhaps it could be due to the fact that it took a while for the display to become available after it had been announced. That being said, MacRumors has pointed out that even though the product’s page had no ratings or reviews, Apple’s Support Communities has several threads in which users are complaining about the display suddenly shutting off, ports not working, no sound, and so on.

If Apple had wanted to censor negative reviews, they would have done that in the forums already. Not to mention the LG 4K UltraFine display’s product page doesn’t exactly have stellar ratings either, so those could have easily been censored as well if Apple had decided that they want to.
