ben-affleck-batmanEarlier this year, it was suggested that Ben Affleck might not be directing the upcoming standalone “Batman” movie. However later it was suggested that he might be directing it, but after a bit of back and forth it has been officially confirmed in a report by Variety that Affleck will no longer be directing the movie.

According to Affleck’s statement, “There are certain characters who hold a special place in the hearts of millions. Performing this role demands focus, passion and the very best performance I can give. It has become clear that I cannot do both jobs to the level they require. Together with the studio, I have decided to find a partner in a director who will collaborate with me on this massive film.”

However Affleck also reiterated that he will still be acting in the movie, just that he won’t be directing it, so if you did enjoy Affleck in the role of the caped crusader, you’ll be pleased to learn that won’t change. “I am still in this, and we are making it, but we are currently looking for a director. I remain extremely committed to this project, and look forward to bringing this to life for fans around the world.”

In the meantime there is still word on when the movie will be released but last we heard, a release in 2018 might be in the cards.
