macbook-pro-without-touch-barAfter Apple revealed to Consumer Reports that their testing of the MacBook Pro was flawed due to a bug in Safari, the organization announced that they would be retesting the laptop to see if the patch released by Apple would yield more consistent results, following which they would change their recommendation if warranted.

The good news for Apple is that it looks like their streak remains unbroken as Consumer Reports has announced that they have changed their recommendation and will now recommend the 2016 MacBook Pro. This is a change from last December in which the organization announced that they weren’t recommending the laptops, making it the first time they have not done so.

According to Consumer Reports, “Consumer Reports has now finished retesting the battery life on Apple’s new MacBook Pro laptops, and our results show that a software update released by Apple on January 9 fixed problems we’d encountered in earlier testing. With the updated software, the three MacBook Pros in our labs all performed well, with one model running 18.75 hours on a charge. We tested each model multiple times using the new software, following the same protocol we apply to hundreds of laptops every year.”

That being said while this bug appears to have been fixed, there have been quite a few users who have been reporting poor battery life on their end. It is possible they could be isolated incidents as so far tests and reviews have found battery life to be around what was advertised.
