It was first reported last year that Fujifilm was working on a medium-format mirrorless camera called the GFX 50S. The company didn’t reveal too many details about this camera initially and it has made us wait for a very long time to confirm how much it’s going to cost. The company has now confirmed how much this medium-format mirrorless camera costs and when it will be available for purchase.

Fujifilm GFX 50S touts a 51.4 megapixel CMOS sensor hooked up to an X Processor Pro, a high-resolution electronic viewfinder, a 3.2 inch LCD touchscreen as well as a 117-point autofocus system.

The camera is capable of capturing some amazing stills but it can only do 1080p video at 24, 25 and 30 frames per second. Those who thinking about recording 4K video with this camera will be disappointed and may want to pick one of its competitors up.

The company has introduced three new lenses for this camera, the GF63mm f/2.8, GF32-54mm f/4 and GF120mm f/4 which cost $1,500, $2,300, and $3,000 respectively. If you think that’s expensive, wait until you find out how much the camera itself costs.

Fujifilm has confirmed that the GFX 50S costs $6,500. The company also revealed today that its new medium-format mirrorless camera is going to be available from retailers in “late” February.
