google-pixel-xl_env_012016’s Google Pixel handsets represented a new strategy for Google, where they created a phone that more or less ran an unadulterated version of Android, but it also came with several exclusive features. That being said, we’re sure some are curious about what 2017’s Pixels could be bringing to the table.

In a report from 9to5Google, it seems that they have been given a bunch of information about the phone from their source that you might be interested to learn about. For starters, the Pixel 2 (or whatever they’re calling it) will be featuring an improved chipset. It is widely expected that it could be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 83X, but 9to5Google also learnt that Google developed a custom chip that they are testing out themselves. Whether or not it will make the final cut is anyone’s guess.

The Pixel 2 is also rumored to feature an improved camera from its predecessor and could place an emphasis on low-light photography. The sensor will not be seeing a huge bump in megapixels, but it is expected to “compensate” with extra features. Now onto the bad news, and that is 9to5Google claims that the new Pixels will be more expensive than its predecessors by as much as $50.

However at the same time Google is working on “budget” Pixel handsets that will be significantly cheaper, which we have to wonder if it could be related to Google’s take on Android One for the US market. Take it with a grain of salt for now, but this treasure trove of information follows an earlier report, also from 9to5Google, that the Pixel 2 will be waterproof.
