[CES 2017] Last year you might recall that at CES 2016, a certain device by the name of Link was announced. Created by Fasetto, the idea of the device is that it provides users with mobile storage on the go, and without having the need for cables to connect to it. In a way it’s almost like your personal cloud that you can carry with you.
However it seems that last year’s model was just a prototype and the final version appears to be ready as Fasetto has relaunched it at this year’s CES. The new device will provide users with a whopping 2TB of storage and users can connect to it and stream from it using an accompanying smartphone app over WiFi.
To help facilitate the streaming, the Link is more than just an external hard drive. Under the hood it is powered by Samsung’s Exynos 7420 processor with an octa-core processor clocked at 2.1GHz. It has WiFi, Bluetooth, and USB-C connectivity, and there is also an optional LTE module that lets you turn the Link into a WiFi hotspot.
Unfortunately the Link device does not come cheap. The 2TB model will be priced at $1,150, with the LTE module priced at an additional $150. There is a smaller 256GB model which will go for$349, but basically it is not cheap. Its release has been set for the spring of 2017, but you can go ahead and pre-order if you’re interested.
