We’ve known for a few months now that a standalone Batman movie is in the works. While the title hasn’t been confirmed as yet, the movie is currently referred to as The Batman. Ben Affleck will be playing Bruce Wayne in the movie, he has already starred as the Caped Crusader in last year’s Batman vs Superman and Suicide Squad. Affleck was previously ambivalent about directing this movie but he has now confirmed that he’s going to be directing his first standalone Batman movie.

The actor confirmed this during a recent appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live where he promoted his latest movie Live By Night. “I’m going to direct the next Batman,” he confirmed.

Affleck confirmed that he’s going to be in the director’s chair for the standalone Batman movie, but does mention that work on the script has not yet been completed. His confirmation comes following rumors that the movie’s production might have been delayed and that Affleck wasn’t sure about directing it.

Before we get to see Affleck play Batman in his very own movie, he will don the cape once again for Justice League which is going to be released on November 16th this year. He stars in the movie alongside Wonder Woman and Aquaman who also have their standalone movies coming out in the not so distant future.

No word as yet on when the standalone Batman movie will hit the big screen, rumor has it that it will come out in summer next year.
