nintendo-switchNintendo’s Miiverse and StreetPass features have sort of been staples to the various consoles released by Nintendo in recent years, but it seems that they will not be finding their way onto the Nintendo Switch. Speaking to GamesBeat, it was confirmed by Nintendo of America’s assistant manager of public relations, David Young.

According to Young, “I can answer that we’re not going to be using Miiverse for Nintendo Switch.” As for StreetPass, Young claims that this is because the Switch is seen more as a home console rather than a portable system like the Nintendo 3DS, despite the fact that one of the Switch’s unique feature is the ability to unplug it and take it on the go with you.

So does that mean that Nintendo is done with social media? Not really because if you recall, during Nintendo’s presentation of the console, they revealed that one of the buttons on the JoyCon controller is actually a social media sharing button. This lets gamers share images and videos of their game onto social media networks, although Nintendo did not specify which platforms would be supported, but we can only assume it will be the main ones.

That being said, the Nintendo Switch has been officially priced at $300 and will be seeing a release on the 3rd of March in the US.
