Back in the day, parental control when it came to video games was basically about locking the console or computer away until a certain time of the day, or when chores or homework was completed. These days there are apps and it looks like Nintendo has created a parental control app for the Nintendo Switch.

Dubbed the Nintendo Switch Parental Controls app, this app will be available on both iOS and Android devices that lets parents control how much their kids play, and also what they do on the console. Parents will be able to monitor the usage of their child’s account, showing what time games start, duration of play, what games are played, and so on.

They will also be able to enforce gameplay times like how long kids should play, with options to either send a warning message to their kids when the time is up, or immediately lock the console, which is admittedly more strict although could be more effective if their kids were more stubborn and refused to stop.

At the moment it is unclear how this will work if the Switch were to be played offline. Would parents be able to control the console then if the console wasn’t connected to the internet? In any case if you are interested you can check out the video above to get an idea of how the app will work.
