nintendo-switchImagine that you are trying to get developers to develop for your platform. A good way would be to involve them from the start, so that you know what they are looking for, what they want or don’t want, and so on. This is versus building something and hoping that developers will come on board.

However it seems that Nintendo has opted for the former strategy, according to a recent report from Famitsu (via Nintendo Life) in which EA executive Patrick Söderlund revealed that Nintendo had involved third-party developers right from the start, which he believes will help the console be successful.

He was quoted as saying, “Their approach is quite different from anything they’ve done in the past – they’ve listened to EA, Activision, and other companies since the beginning of the Switch’s development, so we’ve been involved throughout the whole process. They teamed up with us because they wanted to guarantee the console would be successful. Doing business with Nintendo is very important for us… We’d like to bring more and more games over for everyone.”

So far EA has confirmed that they will be launching the new FIFA title for the Switch, but for now it seems to be the only title from the publisher, although they did state that there are plans to bring more titles onto the console at a later date when things start to pick up.
