For those who are colorblind, they see the world differently than the rest of us. For example certain colors show up as different colors, which can be dangerous if you’re trying to identify medicine, food, or traffic lights. Not only is this dangerous, but their day to day lives are impacted and the simple joy of watching TV is also a different experience.
However this is something that Samsung hopes to address. Together with a Hungarian company called Colorlite, Samsung has launched an app called #SeeColors that can somehow adjust compatible TVs to show colorblind users the same spectrum of colors that a person with normal vision would see.
According to Samsung, “The #SeeColors app works on smartphones and Tizen-based TVs to first identify the type and level of CVD of the user. It then connects to Samsung Smart TVs to recalibrate the screen based on the user’s specific CVD tests. By creating the solution with Colorlite, Samsung can apply the technology for the first time to TVs and smartphone devices.”
The best part is that the company’s 2016 SUHD TV lineup comes preinstalled with the app, so as long as you have the latest Samsung TV you should be good to go. This app is available to those living in Hungary, Romania, and Bulgaria, and there’s no word on whether it will be finding its way to other parts of the world.
