When the 2016 MacBook Pro was launched, there were some users who were reporting poor battery issues where they weren’t getting as much out of the laptop as advertised. As if that wasn’t bad enough, we are now hearing that there are some MacBook Pro owners who are running into keyboard issues as well.

In case you didn’t know, the MacBook Pro introduced a new set of keys to the laptop where it was basically an upgraded version of the new keyboard that Apple introduced to the 12-inch MacBook. However it seems that this new butterfly mechanism might not be as good as it was made out to be because users are reporting non-functional keys, weird high-pitched sounds on some keys, and how there are some keys that don’t provide a uniform feel, which we can only imagine will throw users off when typing.

These issues are being reported across multiple platforms including the MacRumors forum as well as Apple’s Support site. In fact you can see an example of the keyboard problems in the video above put together by MacRumors user monstermac77 that demonstrates how some of the keys produce a high-pitched sound when pressed.

Apple has yet to comment on these problems, but users are reporting that when they send their laptops in, Touch Bar models are being replaced outright while non-Touch Bar models are sent out for repair.
