Fake news isn’t new and satirical websites aren’t either. However thanks to social media and the way news is spread and shared, fake news is starting to become a serious problem especially when people don’t check the source and find out if what they’re sharing is the real deal.

This is an issue that Facebook is combating and has gotten quite a lot of blame for, and it looks like Apple wants to nip it in the bud quickly before the spotlight falls onto them. As you know, Apple has a News app of their own and during a recent interview, Apple’s internet service chief Eddy Cue revealed the company’s plans to combat fake news on their end.

According to Cue, “We wanted Apple News to be available to everyone, but we want to vet and make sure that the news providers are legitimate. We’re very concerned about all of the news items and the clickbait from that standpoint, and that driving a lot of the news coverage. We’re trying to do some things in Apple News, we’re learning from that and we need to share that together as an industry and improve it.”

He also revealed that because a lot of news these days are being read through such apps and devices, that Apple feels that they do have a responsibility for ensuring that the content delivered is the real deal. However as to what exactly Apple will be doing was not revealed, but it’s good to know that they are looking into it.
