One of the rumors regarding this year’s iPhone is that Apple will finally include OLED displays. In fact just recently we heard that Apple had placed 160 million worth of OLED panel orders from Samsung, which seems to “confirm” that Samsung will be one of Apple’s OLED suppliers. Now a report from Bloomberg has possibly revealed Apple’s future plans as well.

According to the report, Apple is already eyeing their next OLED supplier in the form of China’s BOE Technology Group. However it should be noted that BOE is not expected to supply the OLEDs for this year’s iPhone, but rather if and when they do, it will most likely be in 2018 for the next iPhone, whatever it will be called.

The report is claiming that Apple has already been testing out BOE’s components but it has not been confirmed if BOE will ultimately be chosen to be Apple’s supplier. BOE is one of China’s largest OLED suppliers and given that Apple tends to prefer sourcing from more than one supplier, this move doesn’t really come as a surprise.

Take it with a grain of salt for now, but we are hearing very conflicting reports regarding the 2017 iPhone. Some have suggested that the OLED iPhone will be exclusive to one particular iPhone model, but at the same time ordering 160 million units certainly doesn’t sound like Apple will be short on supply either, but we guess we’ll just have to wait and find out.
