If someone were to ask you to list some of the most memorable advertising campaigns ever launched by a technology company, Apple’s “Get a Mac” campaign will be right up there with the best of them. The campaign featured actor Justin Long as the “Mac Guy” who came off as cool and trendy against the nerdy and flabbergasted Windows PC guy. That campaign ended a long time ago and you’ll now start seeing the Apple Mac Guy sell PCs for Huawei.

Huawei is one of the biggest tech companies in China. It already has a big presence in several markets across the globe but the company still has some work to do before it can be as big in the United States as Apple and Samsung.

This latest ad campaign is an effort to leverage a familiar face and sell some PCs in the process. Justin Long appeared in his first Huawei ad at the Consumer Electronics Show 2017 last month and two new spots titled The Interview and The Audition have now been released on YouTube. The aim is to sell the Windows 10-powered Huawei MateBook.

According to reports, Huawei wanted Long to be more upfront with his previous work as Apple’s Mac Guy but it’s said that the actor and the ad agency both convinced Huawei to tone down the message so now he only says “I have a tonne of experience in tech” while trying to sell you a MateBook.
