The ability to send GIFs within Facebook Messenger isn’t new and it has been available for users since last year. However if you’re a user of Google’s Gboard app, you’ll be pleased to learn that Messenger will now support users sending GIFs from Gboard itself via the app’s built-in search feature.

In case you’re unfamiliar with Gboard, this is basically Google’s keyboard app that is meant to integrate Google’s services within the keyboard itself, thus saving users time from having to switch between apps for certain features, such as search. One of the keyboard’s features is the ability to search for GIFs, thus allowing users to find the GIF they want and send it to their friends.

However you might be wondering, if Messenger already can pull GIFs, why bother with Gboard? This is because there are multiple GIF depositories out there, and Messenger appears to rely on Tenor, while Gboard is capable of sourcing from multiple locations, meaning that you should be able to get more varieties of GIFs to choose from.

The feature should already be live so if you’re a Messenger user who uses Gboard, note that you’ll be able to send GIFs via the keyboard already, so check it out if this sounds like something you might be interested in.
