According to the rumors, the Samsung Galaxy S8 will be dropping the home button. So the question is, where does the fingerprint sensor go? According to recently leaked schematics, it seems that Samsung will be placing the sensor on the back of the phone, but it won’t be the back middle portion of the phone, but rather next to the camera’s lens.

It is an odd placement and we’re sure that some of you guys are hoping it isn’t true. Obviously we can’t confirm for now but thanks to a recently leaked photo of an alleged case that belongs to the Galaxy S8, it more or less “confirms” that the sensor will be placed next to the camera’s lens, as you can see in the cut out above.

Now it is possible that the case maker might simply be creating cases based on rumored schematics, dimensions, and designs, so what you see might not necessarily be representative of what you’ll get, so do take it with a grain of salt for now. The Galaxy S8 is rumored to feature both a fingerprint sensor and an iris scanner in terms of security features.

The handset will not be revealed at MWC 2017 as Samsung had previously confirmed. Instead we are hearing a late March unveiling so we guess we’ll have to wait until then to find out more details.
