Google’s connected speaker is called Google Home and it’s powered by the company’s artificial intelligence assistant aptly called Google Assistant. It launched this product in November last year and since then Google Home has been available for purchase in the United States. It appears that the company might soon be ready to take it across the pond. According to a report, the Google Home UK launch might take place by June this year.

Google hasn’t released Google Home officially in any other market as yet. It remains exclusive to the United States for now. That doesn’t mean you can’t get it anywhere else, there are plenty of third-party retailers and gray market sellers who are importing units from the U.S. and selling them at a premium.

Speaking to the BBC at the Mobile World Congress 2017 in Barcelona, SVP of Hardware at Google Rick Osterloh mentioned that the Google Home UK launch is going to take place this year before the end of June. This will finally allow the company’s connected speaker to take on rivals like the Amazon Echo which was released in the United Kingdom in the fall last year.

Osterloh didn’t say how much this product is going to cost in the UK and what new partners it’s going to work with to make Google Home a more compelling option for customers in that country. We’ll find out this information in the weeks leading up to the launch.
