Google today rolled out an update to Google Maps for Android which makes it easy to find real-time commute information. Once the app is updated, users can simply swipe up to see three tabs that will help them find a nearby restaurant, beat traffic, or catch the next available bus. This new feature was actually spotted about a month back in the beta version so it’s good that Google has now finally released it for all Android users.

The places tab is going to host a curated list of places to eat and drink around the user’s location or any location that they choose. It will only take an additional tap to search for other frequent spots like ATMs, gas stations, pharmacies, and grocery stores.

The driving tab will provide real-time ETAs on home and work provided users have their home and work addresses saved in Google Maps. They will also see a nearby traffic conditions report and expected delays on their way back.

Last but not the least, the transit tab is going to provide recommendations for buses or trains to take home, when the next one will arrive, and an ETA for their destination. It will also require home and work addresses to be saved in the app.

The updated Google Maps for Android app is out now and available for download via the Google Play Store.
