There has been a lot of speculation recently about the third Hellboy movie recently but now there’s some very bad news for fans of the series. Guillermo Del Toro has confirmed that there’s not going to be a Hellboy 3 movie. The director has confirmed this after having discussions with creator Mike Mignola and star Ron Perlman. There’s no avoiding the fact now that there’s not going to be a third movie in this popular series.

Guillermo Del Toro confirmed this heartbreaking news for the series fans on Twitter. “Sorry to report: Spoke with all parties. Must report that 100% the sequel will not happen. And that is to be the final thing about it,” he tweeted.

Fans were really hoping that something would come out this particularly when Del Toro started a Twitter poll last month in which he promised to have a conversation with Perlman and Mignola about a sequel if more than 100,000 voted in the poll. The poll received more than 133,000 votes so he followed through on his promise and sat down with both of them.

He did make it clear from the get-go that this wasn’t a guarantee that a Hellboy 3 movie would certainly be made. Now that he has had discussions, there’s confirmation that a third movie in this series is off the table.

Del Toro was in the director’s chair for both the 2004 Hellboy and 2008 Hellboy 2 movies. He and Perlman did express the desire to make a third film previously but they won’t be doing so anymore, possibly in part due to budget problems, since nobody is willing to finance it to the tune of $120 million.
