It used to be that back in the day, specialized and expensive equipment would be required to complete certain tasks. However with technology getting better and more accessible to the masses, it becomes less about the equipment but rather the skill and vision of the person using it, like we can see in the latest cover of the Billboard magazine.

If you saw the image above and assume it was shot using a professional camera, you couldn’t be blamed for thinking that. However according to Mashable, it seems that Billboard’s latest magazine cover was actually shot using the iPhone 7 Plus and in its “Portrait Mode”, in which it helps to create the delicious bokeh you see around the subject (former Fifth Harmony member Camila Cabello, FYI).

The photo was shot by portrait photographer Miller Mobley who told Mashable, “The photo editor was like, can you shoot the next cover with the iPhone 7 Plus? I had never shot [professionally] with an iPhone. It was a cool idea. I’m all about embracing new technology and not being afraid of it, so I was totally up for the challenge.”

There has been some criticism with regards to the “Portrait Mode” feature, but we guess in the right hands, right settings, and right editing, it actually does look pretty good, but what do you guys think?
