Lenovo Announces Yoga A12 Android Tablet

If you’re after a new tablet that you plan to use for work or school, you might be interested to learn that Lenovo has recently taken the wraps off its latest Android tablet offering: the Lenovo Yoga A12. This is an (extremely) affordable Android tablet that according to the company, is aimed at users looking for that all-day productivity.

At less than 2.2Lbs (<1Kg), the Yoga A12 is a vert light clamshell tablet with a large-size keyboard. It is designed to provide the ease of use and battery endurance of a “pro” tablet with a productivity level that is closer to a Laptop’s. Traditional tablets become chunky and heavy after adding keyboard accessories and this is precisely what Lenovo wants to avoid.

The battery endurance relies on the fact that the Lenovo Yoga A12 will come with a system that boasts 13 hours of battery life on a single charge, but we guess that exactly “how much” you get from it will depend on your own usage. Typically, these claims are based on X hours of video playback. Lenovo has confirmed to Ubergizmo that the battery capacity is 10500 mAh, which is substantial.

Historically, Android/iOS tablet battery estimate have been more accurate than laptop estimates because their system don’t run as many background tasks, making their power consumption more predictable based on display brightness and network usage;

If you plan to run some pretty intensive apps and watch videos at full volume and brightness all day, expect it to deplete a lot faster, but we suppose the general message Lenovo is trying to convey is that it should last you awhile.

The Yoga A12 will be powered by an Intel Atom X5 processor and will be accompanied by 2GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. We’re also looking at a 12.2-inch HD (720p) display and two built-in speakers with Dolby’s Atmos technology. Lenovo is also including its Halo keyboard with the Yoga A12 which is basically a massive capacitive touchscreen keyboard with haptic feedback.

The first device to feature the Lenovo Halo keyboard was the Lenovo Yoga Book, another Lenovo Android tablet that was launched at IFA 2016 in September. You can read more about it by following the link.

All of this sounds great, and the best part is that the Lenovo Yoga A12 will be priced at $299 which makes it incredibly affordable when compared to the competition. It will be available starting from the 8th of February via Lenovo’s website and there will be Gunmetal Grey and Rose Gold color options for customers to choose from.
