There were quite a few reports recently about some issues that LG’s new UltraFine 5K Display was facing. The company teamed up with Apple to create these displays and they essentially replace the latter’s own Thunderbolt Display series. LG recently acknowledged that the monitor doesn’t play nice when routers are in the immediate vicinity which is probably what compelled Apple to delay shipments of this product.

Apple has reportedly delayed the shipments of the LG UltraFine 5K Display by up to six weeks on its online store. This was previously at two weeks but has now clearly been extended to give LG more time to come up with the fix for this issue. LG is working on a shielding fix that will arrive with future models which is going to cut down on electromagnetic interference that’s causing these issues.

This issue is exclusive to the company’s UltraFine 5K Display and any other router, the same product family also includes a 4K version and that has been working well since the first day. This problem only surfaced in the most expensive version that’s meant to serve as a companion to the new MacBooks from Apple.

LG is yet to confirm when it’s going to start sending out new units of the UltraFine 5K display that features enhanced shielding to ensure that users don’t have to put up with the same problem again.
