Martin Scorsese is one of the best directors ever, there’s no doubt about it, he’s made many great movies throughout his career and he has particularly made some great gangster movies. The legend has been working on a new gangster movie called The Irishman. According to reports, online video streaming giant Netflix has decided to buy the movie which would mean that it’s looking to further up its game in the original movie segment.

Martin Scorsese’s The Irishman has reportedly been in development since 2010 and would bring together this legendary director with equally legendary actors Robert de Niro and Al Pacino. The Irishman reportedly has a budget of more than $100 million since it extensively uses special effects to make the actors appear younger in select scenes.

The movie is based on the nonfiction book called I Heard You Paint Houses which was about a mob hitman by the name of Frank “The Irishman” Sheeran. It’s claimed that Paramount was in talks to release this movie but talks apparently fell through. This allowed Netflix to come in with its deep pockets and acquire the rights to The Irishman and eventually release it worldwide since Netflix is now available in almost every country on the planet.

It hasn’t been confirmed as yet when The Irishman is going to arrive on Netflix since the company is yet to confirm this deal.
