nintendo-switch-dockOne of the rumored reasons for the Nintendo Switch’s delay from 2016 to 2017 was apparently due to VR integration. Given that the console has since been announced without any mention of VR, there is a good chance that the rumors were wrong, although it seems that there is a very, very faint hint that there might be some truth to it.

During an interview with Nikkei, Nintendo’s President Tatsumi Kimishima revealed that the company was studying the possibility of adding VR to the Switch. Like we said, this seems to suggest that the previous rumor might have the tiniest shred of truth to it, but we reckon that’s about as far as it goes.

According to Kimishima, “If we are able to resolve the issues with playing [VR] comfortably for long hours, we will support it in one form or another.” This is not the first time that Nintendo has discussed the possibility about VR technology. Last year the company said that they were looking into it.

However one of the caveats was that they wanted to make sure that VR was safe for kids, and we guess the other issue is whether it can be used for long periods of time without discomfort. We suppose it would be a nice addition and a nice feature to have, but maybe you shouldn’t hold your breaths just yet.
