BlackBerry may not be making smartphones anymore but the company continues to make Android software. The company has announced a new screen capture and markup app called Notable that’s initially going to be available only for its Android-powered handsets. The company says that its Notable app for Android “lets you scribble down your best ideas.”

BlackBerry’s Notable app allows for easy capturing of the screen. Once whatever’s on the screen is captured, the app can be used to mark it up with text or free-form drawing. The result can then be shared via the app with family and friends. It’s that simple.

On BlackBerry devices, the screen capture can be trigged using the handset’s convenience key, through a custom swipe gesture shortcut or a dedicated screen-capture notification in the notification tray on other devices. It’s very easy from there to mark up the content captured using the app.

Once all that’s done, the image can be shared with people through the Android share framework or through apps like BlackBerry Hub, BlackBerry Messenger, Evernote, and OneNote. Notable can come in handy in a variety of situations such as when you need to mark a location on a map or communicate something about a document.

Those who own a BlackBerry Android device like the DTEK50, DTEK60, and BlackBerry Priv can download the Notable app via the Google Play Store starting today. The app will soon be available for those using BlackBerry Hub+ on non-BlackBerry handsets.
