For those who live sparkling water, constantly buying bottled sparkling water can be an expensive habit. This is why companies such as SodaStream are flourishing where they put out devices that can carbonate water at home, thus saving customers a ton of money since they’ll only need to replace the canisters every so often.However it seems that the company’s plastic bottles might have a problem in which they have the potential to explode, so much so that they have issued a voluntary recall for them. At the moment it has been estimated that there are 51,000 bottles that have been sold in the US, and an additional 7,600 bottles sold in Canada.
According to the CPSC, “The bottles can burst under pressure, posing an injury hazard to the user or bystanders.” Note that not all of SodaStream’s bottles are affected. The CPSC’s website reads, “This recall involves SodaStream one liter, blue tinted, plastic carbonating bottles. ‘SodaStream’ and ‘Dishwasher safe’ are printed on the recalled bottles. Only bottles with an expiration date of “4/2020” printed on the warning label are included in the recall. The recalled bottles have a blue cap and blue bottom base.”
