Apart from exclusive album/single launches and releases, one of the ways that music streaming services can separate themselves from the competition is by introducing original content. A good example would be Apple Music in which along with music, Apple is also going to be offering original video content like Carpool Karaoke.

So we know that Spotify also has video ambitions of their own, but if audio is more your thing, the company has recently announced the launch of original audio content in the form of new and original podcasts. This comes in the form of three new podcast series called Showstopper, Unpacked, and The Chris Lighty Story (working title) that are expected to be launched in the coming months.

The first will be Showstopper that should actually already be live as it has been set for a release on the 23rd of February. Its description reads, “Hosted by Naomi Zeichner, Editor in Chief of The Fader magazine, Showstopper brings together two of the most culturally relevant topics of our time: TV shows and music.”

As for Unpacked and The Chris Lighty Story, those are expected to be released on on the 14th of March and sometime in April respectively. If podcasts are something that you enjoy then you’ll want to check these out.
