Think back maybe 10 years ago when you were younger. Can you remember how cringeworthy your usernames used to be? We bet many of you guys thought how clever or “cool” your handles were, but now that we’re all grown up a bit, suddenly they don’t seem that cool or clever anymore.

People change their minds all the time and Twitch recognizes that because in an announcement on its blog, they have announced that username changes are finally coming to the streaming platform. Unlike other name changes that we’ve seen other services institute where they’re just one time changes, Twitch will let users change their usernames once every 2 months if they so desire.

According to Twitch, “Once you’ve changed your name, the abandoned username will be held by Twitch for a minimum of six months. After which, we may decide to return it to the pool of available usernames for the community and new users. We will not recycle partner usernames, except in special circumstances.”

Now not everyone will see the need or want to change usernames every so often, but we guess at the very least the option is being offered should you decide to take them up on it. This new feature has already been put into effect so you can go ahead and do it now if you wish.
