In a report from yesterday, it was rumored that Apple Pay could be launching in Ireland today, and sure enough it has. For our readers in Ireland, you’ll be pleased to learn that you should be able to start using Apple Pay soon. As per the previous rumors, it seems that the banks launching with the service include KBC and Ulster Bank.

It will work with both Visa and MasterCard holders, so for those using American Express you guys are out of luck for now. It will also work with the Boon prepay system. Given that this is Apple Pay, it means that not all iPhones are compatible, so you will need to own either the iPhone SE, 6, 6s, 6 Plus, 6s Plus, 7, 7 Plus, or if you are still using the iPhone 5, you’ll need the Apple Watch.

Participating retailers in Ireland include Aldi, Amber Oil, Applegreen, Boots, Burger King, Centra, Dunnes Stores, Harvey Norman, Lidl, Marks and Spencers, PostPoint, SuperValu, and more. With the addition of Ireland, Apple Pay is now available in the US, UK, China, Australia, Canada, Switzerland, France, Hong Kong, Russia, Singapore, Japan, New Zealand, and Spain.

Recently we heard that it is also expected to find its way to Taiwan along with Germany and Italy. In the meantime if you’d like to see the participating retailers, you can head on over to Apple Pay Ireland’s website.
